Finsta – Take Over

Finsta himself mentions, among other things, the comic book Bamse, the joke magazine MAD, the children’s book Till vildingarnas land and the artist Carl Johan De Geer as important references. With an artistic activity spanning a quarter of a century, he has established himself as an internationally recognized artist in the borderland between the world of the street and the design and contemporary art scenes.

A central part of the exhibition is Finsta’s sketchbooks, so-called blackbooks, a subgenre within graffiti culture that fulfills an important social function for many practitioners. In them there are sketches both of Finsta and of colleagues with whom he spent time. The exhibition also shows a couple of newly produced works, including an inflatable sculpture and an installation specially adapted to one of Rian’s rooms. In connection with the exhibition, Finsta has also executed a permanent painting on one of the concrete foundations for the Söderbron, just outside the museum, with the motif of a drawing figure.

Finn Hallin, alias Finsta, was born in 1978 in Lund. He studied graphic design at Konstfack 1999–2004 and today works with Stockholm as his base.
