It all started in 2019 with one of Kalamaja cafe's series of events, Femme Fatale. It was an ode to anonymous female power, to glorify women and their strength. We started by simply wanting to show how beautiful is in a unique and different way a woman. And what shape would better symbolize a woman than breasts - jewelry and weapons at the same time - big and small, beautiful and very beautiful. As a material for plasters, it created a sterile distance and eliminated all carnality, which gave the woman the opportunity to distance herself. What remained was a pure form, an anonymous, fragile and beautiful Woman. The exhibition opened with a silent performance, where a plaster mold was taken directly from the woman's body in front of the audience. The audience could experience both a trusting and intimate ritual, which is an integral part of every bust on the wall and gives breath to every outwardly ascetic pair of breasts.
Most of the models asked, what is the idea of taking these plaster casts?
In itself, it is not a very complex art. In order not to spoil the spontaneity of these trusting and intimate moments, we simply said that we want to show how beautiful a woman’s breasts are in a unique and different way. But that was only the external side of the matter. Reality took much more pleasure in the self-confidence of its models,
self-satisfaction, self-awareness, self-acceptance through process and random material. Distancing herself for a moment, the woman experienced herself as if new, free from her ingrained thought patterns. We saw how mutually inspiring it was.
Since the topic found a lot of positive response among the models themselves and the viewers, and the journey turned out to be inspiring for us, the project originally intended as a one-off became a series of exhibitions and performances, which have been dedicated in different ways to a woman’s conscious self-acceptance.
Through the experience of being a woman, we try to address society and talk about the possibility of expressing both sexual and creative freedom.
