The traveling exhibition shown this summer has brought together a selection of Nordic artists, artisans and craftspeople for a joint educational journey through the Finnland.
The exhibition seeks to contribute to the exchange of experiences, critical investigations and an artistic understanding of the causes, fates and languages that have been associated with the Finnish migration movement in the Nordic region.
Historical material and events are expressed through the artists’ representations in photography, sculpture, installation and moving image. By weaving together different times and perspectives, the exhibition wants to open up dialogue about power structures, colonial conditions and interpretive preferences. Structures that throughout history have contributed – and still contribute – to crowding out identities and linguistic nuances in our concepts of the world.
