the exhibition corresponding borders
is a second impact in the exchange between Swedish and Norwegian artists connected to the artist-run Galleri Rostrum, Malmö and Galleri 69, Oslo. After initial contact in the spring of 2022, the artists met for a few summer days in the micronation Morokulien on the border between Norway and Sweden to talk and share artistic ideas and expressions with us. An exchange that came to revolve around thoughts and ideas about peace, borders, and nations’ relations and interactions with each other. The exhibited works can be seen as a response or extension of these exchanges of meaning based on proposals for the reconstruction of Morokulien’s four foundational pillars. An exchange about nature, comments about colonialism, the so-called The “painting battle” between Norway and Sweden, and expanded cross-border trade in culinary and cultural exports.
