Frequently Asked Questions introduces sculpture – an art form that can sometimes feel distant or mysterious. The idea grew out of the recurring questions often posed to sculptors: “What exactly is sculpture? Who is a sculptor? What do they actually do?” The exhibition invites visitors to explore the diverse and surprising world of sculpture.
From 2 October, Elva Cultural Centre presents Frequently Asked Questions, a group exhibition by five sculptors. The artists, all graduates of the Pallas University of Applied Sciences sculpture department, display works that move beyond the traditional stereotype of the sculptor. In their words, the contemporary sculptor is a true jack-of-all-trades – working not only with clay, wood and metal, but also in fields such as jewellery, the film industry, medicine and IT technologies.
“We want to show that sculpture is not a closed or distant world, but a living and changing art form that touches us all. Everyone can discover something in it for themselves,” say the participating artists Liina Kinks, Karin Kivisild, Iris Müntel, Rasmus Eist and Viktor Kiss.
