Aasa explores the eye as both physical and metaphysical phenomenon, personal and universal at once. The works address unsettling themes such as the erosion of privacy, the blurring boundaries between the virtual and real, and the growing superficiality of human relationships.
Yet visitors shouldn’t take things too seriously – Aasa approaches these weighty subjects through a lense of absurdity and humor, creating a striking contrast between conceptual depth and visual playfulness. The eyes that follow you from the walls may be just as ironic as they are introspective. Or both at the same time.
The paintings and visual compositions on display have been created over the past two years and reflect the artist’s deepening interest in the human mind and the mechanisms of perception.
