Ksenia Sulaeva, known for her bold and expressive works, highlights two significant symbols in this exhibition – the black line and a million hours. According to the artist, the black line is central to her work, providing structure and connecting the pieces into a cohesive whole. “The black line is not just a contour; it is a journey I take with every painting,” Sulaeva explains.
The “million hours” in the title refers to the time, dedication, and emotions invested in each creation. Every painting is meticulously crafted, carrying the artist’s thoughts, emotions, and the stories that have shaped its making. It also reflects the countless hours spent learning, experimenting with different styles, and ultimately developing her unique visual language.
Sulaeva’s work is characterized by its versatility. She merges the traditions of painting and monumental art to create a distinct personal style. The black contour, which defines her artistic approach, originates from her studies in monumental art and provides a strong visual backbone for each piece. At the same time, she draws inspiration from pop art, whose bold and engaging imagery adds vibrancy and dynamic expression to her work.
“This exhibition is not just a reflection of my creative journey but also a way to showcase the beauty of dedication and process,” Sulaeva comments. “Every line, every hour, and every step create something greater—something that can inspire and move others.”
The exhibition will be open at Victoria Olt Gallery (Rävala pst 12, Tallinn) until March 8, daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Admission is free.
