Asteria (b. 1991) is an Estonian painter living and working in Tartu. She graduated from the Tartu Art School with a specialization in decoration and obtained a degree in painting from the Pallas University of Applied Sciences. Asteria’s works are regularly exhibited in various shows, and her paintings belong to several private collections in Estonia and abroad.
The artist’s painterly language is expressive, open, and spontaneous, following the natural movement of the brushstroke. Asteria paints both en plein air and from memory, using a bold and sketch-like technique where the focus lies not on perfect finish, but on capturing the right emotion.
The exhibition presents a selection of the finest works from the young painter’s solo exhibitions created over the years, as well as previously unseen paintings. “Asteria: The Artist’s Introspection” is a survey exhibition that unfolds like a diary of the artist’s creative journey — alongside the paintings, visitors can explore the artist’s thoughts and emotions that accompanied the creation of specific works.
An artist’s inner world can be just as intriguing as the artwork itself, and it is this internal dialogue that makes the exhibition a personal and immediate experience.
