The AKVART gallery was opened on September 1, 2009 with a joint exhibition that brought together the works of watercolor masters who particularly promoted the cause of watercolor. Now it's the turn of Arvon Leidie to step forward in a great joint exhibition. There are Maikki Haapala, Marjatta Kantola, Maisa Kela, Tarja Kleemola, Kristina Kostia, Sirkka Laakkonen, Riitta Lindström, Sirkka Mokko, Auli Muurinen-Kitula, Aulikki Nukala, Tuula Palmunen-Saari, Katriina Pere, Ritva Pesonen, Marja-Liisa Pulli, Ritva Rautakoski, Maire Ruotsalainen, Irja Suutarinen, Irja Tikka, Sirkku Tuominen and Sirkkaliisa Virtanen.

Hardly ever has such an esteemed group of artists been gathered for a joint exhibition. Included are e.g. Tarja Kleemola, Maikki Haapala and Aulikki Nukala, who had a long career as a painter and watercolor teacher, Riitta Lindström, Sirkka Mokko, Ritva Rautakoski and Irja Tikka, who painted personal and distinctive works. Each lady has made a significant contribution to watercolor art either as a developer of new techniques, as an ideator of new topics or as a strong, inspiring partner.
Watercolor art is a joint stage of countless techniques, old and new and even uninvented. It offers room for all kinds of experimentation, and every watercolorist knows that water cannot be tamed. In front of it, we are a humble girl, we work, we try, we make mistakes and then – we succeed. It requires solitude and community.
