Art Tube is a speedy art metro and a tube full of art that for the second time transports high-quality
creations to the exhibition spaces in the neighbouring country, this time all the way from Helsinki to Pärnu.
The Helsinki Artists’ Association started Art Tube exhibitions at The Kadriorg Plaza Gallery in Tallinn, where artworks by 48 artists will be on display in the magnificent four-storey open lobby until 29.10.2022. In turn, the second Art Tube goes to the Pärnu City Gallery, which is located in the historic old Town Hall of the city of Pärnu.
Art Tube 2 offers eight artists in eight different room spaces. The artists’ works form their own inner whole
in their own space, and thus the viewer can move from one atmosphere and image world to another as they
move around the gallery. The diverse contemporary art exhibition consists of several different art forms, from
painting to video art and from graphics to spatial works.
There was an Open Call for Art Tube exhibitions in spring 2022. The search was for the latest works,
which include both more experimental and more traditional productions. The curators are painters
Satu Kalliokuusi and Mika Vesalahti from the Helsinki Artists’ Association.
The starting point for the exhibitions on display in Estonia is the cooperation between the Estonian
Painters’ Association and the Helsinki Artists’ Association, which has emerged within the framework
of the HAA Europe project. The project of the Helsinki Artists’ Association has enabled new forms of
promoting partnerships in both Finland and Estonia.
In the spring season 2022, Karl-Kristjan Nagel’s exhibition at Gallery Katariina and the group exhibition
curated by Vilen Künnapu at the HAA Gallery in Suomenlinna were seen in Helsinki. In the summer,
an extensive Finnish-Estonian joint exhibition Meri was produced for Malmitalo Gallery and HAA Gallery.
Mall Nukke’s exhibition is currently on display at Gallery Katariina 16.9.-2.10.2022.
