“A Unique World” is a group exhibition by the Maarja Küla art circle, exploring the creative power of masks. A mask is an object as old as time itself, allowing us to transcend our own boundaries, as once it is placed on the face, it takes us to a world of endless possibilities. With a mask, one can step into someone else’s shoes or open up their imagination to new and previously unimaginable possibilities.
It is possible to transform into the person you have always wanted to become, or even into an unknown being. The Maarja Küla art circle has created a large collection of extraordinary masks, which the villagers used in performances in the Taevaskoja forest and Maarja Küla. This resulted in the photo series and short film featured in the exhibition.
The artists of Maarja Küla have participated in numerous exhibitions held both in Maarja Küla and various locations across Estonia, including Põlva Central Library and Day Center, the Kondas Center in Viljandi, and Tartu City Library. The exhibition also features works created within the Nord+ program by project partners from Lithuania and Latvia.
