“The paintings in the exhibition were created alongside family life, freely and enthusiastically. I am interested in geometry and structures and how they create harmony with colors. The combination creates abstract compositions. Painting inspires, it is interesting, it gives rise to thoughts, it gives an opportunity to deepen. If the work is left unfinished, there will be a desire to continue it at the first opportunity. There’s a strange attraction to that,” the artist thinks.
Rähn has participated in poster exhibitions related to his work, but the Tampere lodge exhibition is her first solo exhibition. “I only discovered the painting in recent years, after my son gave me a box of paintings for my 50th birthday. The works in the exhibition were created during the last year. In the past, there was simply no time, I have tried to be a good mother to my three children, a decent Spouse, and alongside all that I worked in an advertising agency.”
Kaia Rähn graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 1995 from the textile department and worked as an art director in various design and advertising agencies. She has mainly worked as a graphic designer, corporate graphic designer and packaging designer. “In addition, I have worked as a book illustrator and collage artist. I have participated in four international design festivals in Haapsalu, and this year the poster I designed is on display there as well.”
