Moscow artist Veronika Garanina has said of her textile compositions: “Three elements work together in my works: the base fabric (usually canvas, gray or bleached) gives the bottom, the cloths set the color scale and create memories, and the embroidery connects the appliqués to the base, accents. Usually I start working on the fabric when the color and composition of the motif is already prepared in either oil or watercolor, and this stage is just a pleasure, almost like a game. Sackcloth, tulle, Asian silk or velvet, a small print pattern or embossed creases – all of these create a wide range of possibilities and at the same time do not allow to deviate from naturalism.

Born in Moscow, Veronika Garanina received her art education in the same city and still lives and works there. In addition to art schools, she has studied in the studios of several outstanding artists, masters in her field. He performs his artist’s handwriting in painting, graphics, ceramics, space design projects, book design, textiles and the creation of author dolls. In recent years, she has become more involved in textile compositions, using them in book designs as well.
