Tõnis Saadoja “Paper City”

The central motives of the paintings are a double-exposure photographic performance in which a projected image of sunny 1980s America breaks down on a paper-based room model. The shifts in the proportion, color and perspective of the image caused by the double exposure create a rich superimage, each fragment of which can be viewed as a separately composed work. Painting, studying, and repeating these passages is like a tour through memory and personal notes. Everything has been somewhere, but it repeats itself in fragments over and over again.
