Temnikova & Kasela Gallery is glad to open Roots and Ruins – an exhibition that searches for dialogue and common ideological ground between the artists of the gallery and finds it in the themes that captivate the artists and the motifs they use in their work.

The participants in the exhibition are influential figures in Estonian contemporary art: Edith Karlson, Kris Lemsalu, Jaanus Samma and Jaan Toomik. The exhibition is curated by Rael Artel.
Roots and Ruins ponders processes that all of us inhabit and are part of through our existence. It talks of our ancestors and how we ourselves turn into forebears, and tells stories of times past, the source of all the items, questions and stories we must deal with today. The key phrases that characterize the selection of exhibited works are lineage and heritage, roof turning into foundation, seeds becoming roots, birth, passing on and dying (out).
The exhibition runs until 8 November.
The exhibition is supported by Cultural Endowment of Estonia and Valmiermuiza Brewery
