The openings of the exhibitions will take place on June 12 at 16:00 in the Artists’ House and at 17:00 in the Town Hall.
Pärnu Art Summer is a festival with great traditions – the first Art Summer took place in 1995, and during these long years, a large part of the great figures of the Estonian art world have participated in the art summer. Three years ago, a new and more international exhibition series “Woman & Woman” and “Man & Man” were born under the auspices of Kunstisuve. The idea of the curators Marian Kivila and Jan Leo Grau was to bring an exhibition format alongside the body and beach culture and act culture of the summer resort town, which would offer different points of view on gender issues. “Man & Man” and “Woman & Woman” are not a classic nude exhibition – the artists selected for the exhibition open their interpretations of gender identity, trying to make sense of the different positions of women and men in modern society and each interpreting masculinity or femininity.
