On Souls' Day Meiu Mündi's painting series "La Calavera", inspired by the Mexican saint Día de Muertos, will open in the tARTu store.

The opening of the painting series “La Calavera” takes place in cooperation with Mexicans living in Tartu, who introduce the sacred customs of the dead, cover the table, choose music and create a sacred altar decorated with poplar-picados or paper cut-outs. The holy altar of the dead will have elements of earth, fire, water and air. The air or wind is represented by poplar picados, the colors of which in turn have different meanings. Orange refers to the morning sun, purple to Catholicism, red to warriors and women, green to the young, yellow to the elderly, white to the children, and black to the other. Pictures of loved ones or pets who have left the world can be placed on the altar to let souls know that they have not been forgotten.
