I remember my mum was dreaming about Venice for couple of decades at least. She was going on about it and each time there was a travel programme on TV she’d sigh and her eyes lit up. And then I moved to London and arranged her to come to visit me, then it was a quick and very secret planning till we jumped on Ryanair flight – what could be easier! She got so excited that her blood pressure jumped. I almost kidnapped her to visit Venice, otherwise she’d never do it. And how just lucky we were to get there at the time of Carnival! It was just awesome.
