Oil on canvas
The work unfolds through three symbolic “gates,” reflecting different states of political and psychological tension.
First Gate – Sabotage and Spectatorship
A figure dropping an anchor to sever sea cables introduces a concrete and unsettling act of sabotage. In contrast, another character stands aside, merely spreading their arms — a gesture of helplessness or indifference. The scene reflects not distant evil, but the moral paralysis present within our own region.
Second Gate – The Sea Throne of Ukraine
Here, power is reimagined not as imperial dominance but as endurance. Water becomes a trial rather than chaos, and Ukraine is portrayed not as a victim but as a force whose resistance allows others to breathe.
Third Gate – Determination and Hesitation
The final moment focuses on an inner psychological tension between resolve and doubt.
