Shared Loneliness, 2025

Oil, alkyd and beeswax on linen There are eyes in the center of the flowers, and in front of the eyes are the burning and extinguished wicks of the candles. Stearin has dripped from the candles onto the petals. I draw inspiration from the way the heart of a pansy glows like a flicker of fire — delicate yet radiant. The work has been in the Kuvan Kevät MFA Show as part of my series of ten paintings. The series of works was exhibited from 7 May to 15 June 2025 at the Kuva/Tila gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki.
