Nine Human Tendencies to Make Mistakes is an immersive stained glass installation that explores human vulnerability, personal choices, and the experiences that shape the paths we take in life. The work is based on nine anonymous personal stories collected through interviews, each revealing a different moment of struggle, transformation, or confrontation with one’s own mistakes. The installation consists of nine stained glass panels arranged in a circular formation, creating an enclosed space where the viewer becomes surrounded by fragments of individual experiences. Each panel represents a separate story, while accompanying audio recordings preserve the voices and memories of the people behind them. The combination of visual imagery and sound transforms the installation into a space of listening and reflection, where the viewer is invited not only to observe but also to empathise. The choice of stained glass as the primary medium carries a significant symbolic meaning. Traditionally connected with sacred architecture, spirituality, and the representation of moral ideals, stained glass has historically been used to tell stories of faith and human aspiration. In this work, the medium is approached from a different perspective — the focus shifts from perfection to imperfection, from idealised figures to real human experiences. The transparency of glass becomes a metaphor for openness and honesty, allowing difficult stories to be revealed while still preserving their fragility. The installation does not seek to judge or categorise human mistakes. Instead, it examines the complex circumstances behind them — childhood experiences, relationships, environment, trauma, and personal struggles that often remain invisible from the outside. The stories presented in the work are not treated as examples of failure, but as reflections of human complexity and the possibility of change. The circular arrangement of the panels creates a continuous dialogue between the individual stories. There is no beginning or ending, no hierarchy between experiences, and no single definition of a mistake. The viewer standing within the installation becomes part of this shared space, surrounded by different voices and reflections on what it means to be human. Nine Human Tendencies to Make Mistakes is ultimately an invitation to slow down, listen, and reconsider the way we perceive the mistakes of others and ourselves. Through the language of stained glass, the installation creates a space where vulnerability is not hidden but acknowledged as an essential part of human experience.
