The herbarium functions both as a personal archive of memories and as an analogy for the workings of memory itself: a collection in which preserved fragments carry meanings that shift over time. The plant becomes an anchor to which memory attaches—one way of speaking about being human in time.
Memory does not simply restore what has been, but continually reshapes it. The portraits of plants, rather than botanical generalisations, are based on herbarium sheets compiled by the artist 25 years ago.
