‘In the Fallen Birch a Hornets’ Nest’ i the first in the series of ten paintings that I exhibited for my solo degree project ‘Sztuka Wróżenia’ at Galleri Konstfack, in March 2024. I based the oil paintings on photographs that I received over the phone, each of which were sent to me from a small tree nursery on the outskirts of Warsaw. A daily dialogue with the gardener (my penpal and long-distance partner) allowed me to inhabit two places at once. I wanted to bring the three dimensional ‘other place’ into the two dimensional, where I spend a significant amount of my time.
