The artist´s comments on the artwork:
“Six months in Estonia was an important chapter in my life and I appreciated getting to know all the Estonians but also the foreigners. At first I had an impression that Estonians lead a bit solitary existence. Then I  discovered that many locals have a strong relation with the nature and some of them are still living in small islands. This is also one of the first associations that I personally have with Estonia – a beautiful sea and islands spread out along the land.

This is why I have got an impulse to create these isolated ceramic islands which are inspired by the shapes of the real ones. Each of them is dedicated to one of my closest friends made during my Erasmus stay in Estonia. The central one is dedicated to myself. I called the figures according to my friends´ names combined with typical Estonian “endings of islands”. Me as Natasaar, accompanied by Termsi, Patringli, Leannhu, Sophiandi, Klarusaar, Sarimaa, Evhu. By this, I created a specific constellation between us which reflects how I measure our friendships. This is how I feel about Estonians – they are separate individuals but also close to each other.”
