Made with a safety blanket
The artist´s comment on the artwork:
“This project started in my period of Erasmus in Estonia. The project was divided in different works including a party at EKKM, a video, photographies, and the 2 works here submited: 1 – a vest (made with a safety blanket); 2 – a large painted tissue (black acrylic over a fluorescent green tissue).
The work was inspired by a deep interest in the neon colors used in Estonia, contrasting with the dark clothes used and atmosphere conditions in this particular place. I specially noted these characteristics giving that I came from a mediterranean country as Portugal.
Based in this elements I tried to develop a poetic and metaphorical piece that reflected the ideas of safety, depression (that the Estonian citizens are well aware) and low visibility.”
The video was exhibited at the collective show “Swipe to engage”, at Ars-maja, Tallinn, Estonia.
