Stone, Wood, Old CCTV monitor, text

The story of this work originates from a lost marble block, a physical object that is still present in Johannes’ imagination – a physical object of a particular mass, size and density – a sculptural source material that requires patience and thoughtful use of force. Having talked with sculptors who have done stone work, he discovered that they all had stories about stone, based on personal physical material experience, its silent resistance, which would break under the sculptor’s intention to make something artistic from it. In the case of his work, he has completely abandoned the latter, allowing the stone as a material to be present in a silent dialogue with the viewer experience.
