Vilius Juozapas Vingras ^{Emerging artist}

Artist's country of origin: Lithuania

Started his studies in the graphics department in the Vilnius Academy of Arts. At first he committed himself to working with the different techniques within printmaking, learning their specifics. This lead to creating a deeper interest in the material science behind the craft. Wanting to find deeper meaning within these materials and their reactions and interactions. For example growing lead crystals as a way to talk about different planets and what human life would entail there. Through these explorations his own work became more interdisciplinary leaning more towards research. Getting a grant from the Lithuanian research committee cemented his wanting to be an artist who does research. All of this fed towards his bachelor’s project which had been in the works for a very long time and its subsequent culmination and exhibition during the VAA graduation show.
