Viesturs Uzulens Emerging artist

Viesturs Uzulens

Artist is based in: Latvia

Viesturs Uzulens is a Latvian painter. Without any prior artistic training or particular interest in art, he began drawing and painting only six months before entering the Art Academy of Latvia in 2022. During his Bachelor’s studies in Painting, he developed an understanding of painting as a visual language and of image-making as the integration of conceptual, visual, and material elements.

His most significant project to date was presented at the Art Academy of Latvia’s graduation exhibition, where he explored the concept of gene expression in living organisms. His paintings combine organic forms with geometry and repetition, while employing a range of techniques—including brushwork, rollers, pouring, and oil sticks—and materials such as oil, acrylic, and alkyd enamel, selected according to the specific requirements of each stage of the painting process.

Uzulens has established an ongoing collaboration with Look! Gallery in Riga. He held a solo exhibition there in April 2026, with another scheduled for 2027. For the past two years, the gallery has also represented him at the Riga Contemporary Art Fair.
