Tatjana Nezberte
Artist is based in: Latvia
Since I started my studies at the Latvian Art Academy I’ve gathered knowledge and developed my artistic practice. I spent a semester on an Erasmus+ exchange program at the Lithuanian Art academy. Since 2018 my works have been exhibited in 12 different group shows in Latvia, Lithuania, and Germany. My practice mostly touches upon a deepened interest in topics related to the fragility of life, family roots, heredity, violence and integration. As the basis of the work, I developed for my masters degree is the violence experienced in my family. As these topics are quite taboo but very present in our everyday violence I decided to work on the relevancy of this topic. The work interested the curator of the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design and the installation was displayed in a specially built space in the museum where the viewer could listen to five different experience stories from people coming from different backgrounds, genders and ages.
