Silga Ivanova Emerging artist

Silga Ivanova

Artist is based in: Latvia

Silga Ivanova is a Latvian painter working in oil, watercolor, and charcoal, drawing from her formal training at the Art Academy of Latvia and advanced studies in France. Her style blends slow, layered techniques and tonal painting, creating immersive scenes inspired by gardens, clouds, and the quiet rhythms of nature. Through transparent washes and subtle transitions of light, her art evokes a meditative calm, inviting viewers into spaces of gentle perception and contemplative stillness. She completed her Bachelor’s studies in Painting at the Art Academy of Latvia (2022–2026), and in 2025–2026 expanded her practice through the Erasmus+ programme at École supérieure d’arts & médias de Caen/Cherbourg in France. This period strengthened her interest in atmospheric depth, tonal transitions, and the poetics of everyday observation. Silga has held several solo exhibitions, including “Ceļā” (Mārupe Municipality Library, 2023), “Toņkārta” (National Botanic Garden Orangery, 2022), and her final Erasmus exhibition in Caen, France (2026). Since 2020, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Riga, Cēsis, Sabile, Talsi and Caen. Notably, she independently curated and organized the large-scale exhibition “Putna melnās acis likās kā lielas kameras…” in both Riga (fon Stricka Villa) and Sabile, coordinating artists, venue partnerships, and exhibition design – a project that demonstrated her ability to create artistic dialogue and shape contemporary exhibition environments. Her works have been shown in the diploma exhibition “Definīcija” at the Art Academy of Latvia (2026), the Art Days exhibition at Talsi Regional Museum (2026), the contemporary art exhibition “Zīme” in Cēsis (2024), and the photography exhibition at ÉSAM Caen/Cherbourg (2026). Through these projects, Silga has developed a consistent artistic voice rooted in tonal painting, seasonal rhythm, and the quiet interplay between nature and perception. Her practice continues to evolve through large-format works, atmospheric series, and a sustained interest in the meditative qualities of light, transparency, and inner landscapes.
