Artist's country of origin: Finland
Senni Siltavuori (b.1996) is a visual artist whose focus lies in the various materials and techniques of painting. She perceives painting as a cognitive process that requires significant thought and reflection. The surface of the painting acts as a platform where thoughts and materials merge creating a symbiotic relationship that she continues to nurture.
Siltavuori’s MFA work delved deeper into materials, specifically water gilding and tempera painting. She became more interested in translating inner and physical experiences into painting. Her Topic for the MFA thesis was experience of ego death during Sufi dance practice and translating that into a painting. The thesis work is titled “Images of Disappearance”.
