Oskars Mūrnieks Emerging artist
Artist is based in: Latvia
Oskars Mūrnieks (b. 1992) is a painter based in Riga, Latvia. His work is rooted in philosophy and existentialist thought, translating ideas about faith, subjectivity, and the human psyche into a figurative language built on raw color and expressive brushwork – often through symbols drawn from religious and mythological iconography, used not as illustration, but as a way of speaking about vulnerability and transformation.
He studied Philosophy at the University of Latvia before turning to painting, completing his BA in Painting at the Art Academy of Latvia in 2026. He has participated in group exhibitions since 2023, including “Studio Munch House” staged at Edvard Munch’s own studio in Oslo.
