Lasma Bringina
Artist's country of origin: Latvia
Lasma Bringina is Latvia based young artist. In her creative practice, she delves into the study of thought forms and consciousness by applying assimilated experiences, revealing both her personal and collective existence. Using the body as the closest tool of expression, serving as a carrier of information. In her works, one can encounter a form of interaction between the environment and an adult figure that does not exist in human consciousness, creating a surreal atmosphere beyond time and dimension.
Working with ink, she views the material and its characteristics as narrative elements, equally compelling as her chosen system of images and symbols. Emotions play out in its saturation and fragility simultaneously, nuanced in black and the warmth of cool relationships.
Experimenting with various techniques of drawing and print making by bringing a contemporary feature to the process.
Lāsma Bringina has graduated from the Latvian Academy of Arts with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Art in 2016, followed by master’s degrees in Environmental Art in 2018 and Painting/Drawing specialization in 2020. Additionally, has studied photography and printmaking techniques.
She has been participating in several group exhibitions since 2016; hosted her solo-exhibition “On the edge of consciousness” at 2018 and “Paraller frecvencies” at 2022. At 2019 has been shortlisted and included in WROCLAW DRAWING TRIENNIAL 2019 organized open call exhibition WELTSCHMERZ..
