Kristi Vendelin Emerging artist

Kristi Vendelin

Artist is based in: Estonia

Kristi Vendelin (1995) is a visual artist based in Tartu, Estonia. She holds a BA in Painting from Pallas University of Applied Sciences and an MA in Contemporary Art from the Estonian Academy of Arts. She also studied at the Contemporary Painting Studio of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic.

Her artistic practice is strongly influenced by her experience in painting conservation and restoration, which has shaped both her technical approach to materials and her interest in repetition, surfaces, and layered structures. Vendelin is particularly interested in moments of disruption, disconnection, and the movements that emerge from these altered states. Through an intuitive and playful process, she explores personal experiences using visual tropes and subtle narrative fragments.

Her work has been presented in several solo and group exhibitions, and she has repeatedly participated in the “Buy Young Art” auction, where works such as Midday, Over the Generations, and Finding Joy in Mundane have been sold.  In 2024, she took part in the curatorial project Derangement by the Contemporary Art MA students of the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn’s Krulli Quarter, as well as exhibitions at ARS Project Space, Viljandi, and Lauda Gallery in Southern Estonia.

Alongside her personal artistic practice, Vendelin works in the field of wall painting restoration and conservation and has contributed to digital reconstruction projects. She has also taught contemporary art to high school students at Viimsi Gymnasium.
