Kerstin Rei

Artist is based in: Estonia

Kerstin Rei graduated in sculpture from Tartu Art College. She is a member of the Estonian Artists’ Association and the Estonian Watercolour Society. Her work has been exhibited in Estonia and internationally.

Her work has varied starting points: sometimes a moment or an experience provides the impetus; at other times, it is the material or the process itself. Rather than fully determining the outcome in advance, she makes decisions as the work develops, allowing room for the material’s own behaviour. For her, painting is a way of experiencing and engaging with the world. In recent years, watercolour has been her primary medium, often combined with charcoal.
