Katarina Meister ^{Emerging artist}

Artist's country of origin: Estonia

Katarina Meister (born 1990)  graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a Master´s degree in Painting in 2016, having earlier also completed her Bachelor´s studies at the same field. She spent the last year of her Master´s studies in the Helsinki Academy of Arts. 2011-2012 she studied in Central Saint Martins University of Art and Design in London. Meister has had four solo exhibitions so far and she has participated in several group exhibitions in Estonia, the United Kingdom, Spain and Lithuania. 

Katarina Meister is interested in the gesture of painting and finding out what this kind of artistic interrogation does to the concept of the art work / how it can be used as the core part of the work itself. Painting is a way she engages with the world. Painting ready-made / found images allows her to play more with the selection methods of images and to find out more about the meaning of painting as a layer.
