Artist's country of origin: Estonia
Kadri Bormeister studied interior architecture at St. John’s College in Cork, Ireland, and furthered her education in colour studies at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Her artistic practice is closely connected to her background in interior architecture, and her works are visual reflections of conceptual processes behind spatial and design decisions.
Bormeister’s work explores how people perceive and relate to their surroundings. She investigates the way visual habits and expectations influence our experience of space, and how colour combinations can express inner thought processes and psychological layers. In her compositions, colour becomes a central element that conveys complexity, introspection, and the emotional resonance behind choices.
According to the artist, creativity is rooted in freedom – the courage to be oneself, to make deliberate choices, and to communicate authentically with one’s surroundings. In her work, the home is presented as a deeply personal and symbolic space, reflecting identity through colour, form, and spatial relationships. In this way, the environment becomes a stage upon which everyday life unfolds.
