Iana Levman
Artist is based in: Estonia
Iana Levman (b. 1991, Artem, Russia) is an artist based in Tallinn, Estonia. After relocating to Estonia, her ancestral homeland, her practice became increasingly focused on questions of belonging, memory, and self-discovery.
Her work begins with observing fragments of lived experience: both personal and others’ stories, and tracing the patterns that emerge from them. Through this process, she translates complex emotional and material realities into simplified visual systems, exploring relationships between elements: hierarchy and chaos, connection and separation, construction and image. Working with layered materials such as ink, acrylic, and coloured pencil, Levman builds surfaces through accumulation and erosion, distilling them into restrained, clear forms. Her practice is driven by an attention to worn, imperfect structures that carry traces of life, assembling a sense of presence from subtle and often fragile signals.
Levman studied at ARCO in Portugal (2023–2025) and has participated in group exhibitions in Portugal, Estonia, and Germany.
