Herlet Elvisto

Artist is based in: Estonia

Herlet Elvisto (born 1971 in Tallinn) has graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts as a painter (BA in 2006, MA in 2008). The artist has said that her wish is “to somehow touch the viewer“ through her paintings, photographs and video works.

Herlet Elvisto has experimented with various artistic mediums and formats – painting, photography and video – although she has appeared in exhibitions primarily as a painter. Actually, his digital prints, which are based on photographic images, could also be hyperrealist paintings, because interestingly, Elvisto reintroduces the characteristic traits of photography that hyperrealism has borrowed from it – extreme realism that lacks any individual approach to painting, a distanced “cold” gaze etc.
