Helen Bunder

Helen Bunder (born March 31, 1991, in Tartu) is an Estonian painter and art teacher. She graduated from Tartu Art School in 2011 with a degree in design graphics and from the University of Tartu in 2014 with a degree in painting. In 2016, she obtained a master’s degree in art, crafts, and home economics education from the University of Tartu.
Since 2016, Bunder has been teaching general art and specialized subjects at Tartu Art School, including drawing, painting, composition, pictography, and illustration. She also serves as a group instructor and team coach. In 2021, she became a member of the Tartu Artists’ Union.
Bunder has participated in several solo and group exhibitions. In 2022, her solo exhibition “The Echo of Being” was held at SOLARIS Gallery in Tallinn, focusing on subconscious introspections that manifest in figurative and semi-abstract forms during the painting process. In 2024, her solo exhibition “Lainetus” opened at Põhjala Factory in Tallinn, featuring a series of paintings on recycled materials inspired by the five rhythms dance practice.
Her work often delves into personal questions, reflections, and experiences, expressing the beauty and pain of life through a colorful and bold painting style. In addition to painting, Bunder is a passionate drawing artist.
