Hedi Kuhi (b. 1998) is a painting student at the Pallas University of Applied Sciences, currently completing her bachelor’s studies. Before attending Pallas, she graduated from Tartu Art School with a specialization in decoration. In 2023, Kuhi received the Pallas Painting Scholarship, which resulted in her solo exhibition “Here Again” at Tartu Art House. In 2024, she took part in the duo exhibition “Pallas Girls” at Tallinn Kunstiruum Gallery with Mari Frühling. That same year, she also participated in the duo exhibition “Valga. Memories and Dreams” at the Valga Cultural Centre together with Danel Ülper.
In her artistic practice, Kuhi focuses on everyday life, depictions of her hometown, and the balance between wildness and order. She is interested in the traces of time and decay found in nature, the city, and people themselves. In her paintings, figures, natural motifs, and urban landscapes intertwine, creating reflections on the connections between humans and their living environments. Kuhi mainly creates acrylic and oil paintings, but also practices drawing and printmaking. She is currently focused on her graduation project at Pallas.
