Hanna Vinter Emerging artist

Artist's country of origin: Estonia

My work plays with absurd, surreal and symbolic motifs, exploring my own nature as a sensitive person. In the works, melancholy

and a childlike sense of humor meet – two opposing forces that create inner tension and emotional multi-layering.

The recurring themes are spiritual dissatisfaction and a feeling of homelessness. Through my works, I try to reflect the longing to make my existence livable

and worthy. Art helps me make sense of a life centered on sensitivity, an inner compass and the need to belong somewhere. The works seem to create a space where such an existence is possible.

I am inspired by symbols and images that emerge from memories, dreams, the world around me and sometimes nightmares. Through them, I create a personal reality that is both a point of recognition and a refuge. I immediately capture the impulse of the initial impulse in a sketchbook – a quick and spontaneous visual note helps to preserve the ambivalence and immediacy of the subconscious experience. Over time, symbols related to childhood trauma and a hypersensitive perception of the world have begun to recur in many of the sketches – they have become a central part of my art.
