Hanna Peräkylä is a Finnish artist whose practice moves in the field of textile art, installation and sculpture, moving towards spatial and material experimentation. At the moment Peräkylä is finishing her Master of Fine Art studies at the University of the Arts Helsinki. Her graduation work is grounded in her interest in the networks, contrasts and tactile qualities of matter. She reflects on the coexistence of the organic and the synthetic, on harvesting, and on the circulation of matter. Peräkylä completed her previous Master of Arts degree (textile art) at the Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture in 2013 and has since been working as a visual artist, art teacher and set designer. Her first solo exhibition was held in Windhoek, Namibia in 2007. Besides Namibia, her works have been exhibited in Finland, Estonia, Germany and Taiwan. Peräkylä was awarded with the City of Kouvola Visual Artist prize 2023-2025, and due the award she held a wide solo exhibition “Temporary Setting” at Kouvola Art Museum Poikilo in 2024. Her works can be found in the collections of Kouvola Art Museum Poikilo, Art Centre Salmela, Town of Mäntyharju and University of Namibia. Peräkylä’s artistic work has been supported mainly by The Finnish Cultural Foundation Kymenlaakso Regional Fund and Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
