Eve Valper was born in 1969 in Võru. She studied at the University of Tartu’s Department of Painting from 1993 to 1998; she works as a freelance painter; she is also an art teacher at a hobby school and gives advanced painting training at the Tartu College of Art Pallas. Member of the Tartu Artists’ Association since 2024. In her work, she is interested in space and light and problems of perception of the visible world, also related to history and cultural heritage; in her recent paintings, she has explored the relationship between the surrounding urban space or, more broadly, the environment and the subjectivity of vision and perception. She approaches the subject matter primarily through color, aiming to create space, light and environments on the two-dimensional surface of the work and trying to synthesize the color-centered painting tradition with the world of meanings and stories.
