Dimitra Liogka Emerging artist

Artist is based in: Sweden

Dimitra Liogka (b. 1997, Greece) lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. She completed her studies in Painting at the School of Visual and Applied Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2022), and is currently completing her MFA at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm (2026). Liogka’s practice explores how beauty and romance can evoke discomfort, reflecting her experiences of societal repression and the ways in which people construct personal safe spaces. Through oil painting, she investigates identity and the female body using imagined figures and symbolic narratives drawn from dualities in nature. Shells, hair, and organic forms appear both tender and unsettling, embodying tensions between attraction and unease. In 2025, she was awarded the Eva och Hugo Bergmans Minnesfond Grant by the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited internationally in Greece, Sweden, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and is held in public and private collections.
