Danel Kahar (b. 1990) is an artist who lives and works in Tallinn. He graduated the Department of Liberal Arts of the Estonian Academy of Arts with a degree in painting BA (2016). His first solo exhibition took place in 2017 at Draakon Gallery, and in the same year he also had a large-scale exhibition with Grisli Soppe-Kahar in Tartu Art House. In the summer of 2018, he spent a residency in Italy (Mazzano Romanos). His last solo exhibition took place in 2021 at the Metropol Gallery, where he presented objects in which painting mixes with assembly and sculpture.
Danel Kahar is an artist with a strong and free handwriting, whose themes currently focus on existentiality, archetypes and lost cultures.
His works have predominantly natural tones as well as states, there are no beautiful filters. The characters in Danel’s works carry different times and adapt to and find a place in the moment.
