Brūss Kalniņš Emerging artist

Brūss Kalniņš

Artist's country of origin: Latvia

After completing secondary school, the artist pursued studies in engineering and mechanics at Riga Technical University (RTU). Later, discovering a creative side and a desire to be part of the artistic community, the artist began studies at the Art Academy of Latvia (LMA) in the Metal Design Department. Here, previously acquired knowledge was successfully applied to kinetic art projects and ideas.

The artist is known for embracing larger dimensions and developing mixed media artworks that combine metal with audio, video, and ready-made objects. In summer 2023, the artist achieved a split win in the student category at the 4th International Art Biennale Marina Exhibition “On the Watergod’s Shoulders” with the work “Cycle.” In addition to participating in several group exhibitions, the artist is currently working on a first personal exhibition to be held in Jūrmala, Latvia, from August to September.
