Arnis Balcus

Artist's country of origin: Latvia

Arnis Balcus (born 1978 in Riga, Latvia) has a BA degree from the University of Latvia in Communication Studies and a MA degree in Photographic Studies from the University of Westminster. In most of his photographic work he examines Latvian identity, historical taboos and social-political agendas. His recent solo shows include Fotogalleriet[format] in Malmo (2015), Street Level Photoworks in Glasgow (2014) and Mukusala Art Centre (2014). He is also teaching photography, editing FK Magazine and co-organizing Riga Photomonth festival.
