Angela Elizabeth RAMÍREZ FELLOWES

Artist's country of origin: Other

Angela Elizabeth Ramírez Fellowes goes around, follows threads and forges relationships. She approaches art practice as a reciprocal encounter with ‘an other’. Exploring the vitality of Matter; mediums, techniques and actions arise as a natural request of a place and process-based complicity. A way through which glances can be exchanged between one and the other. Ramírez Fellowes holds a BA in Architecture and an MA in Architecture and Urban Planning from the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. She had practiced as an urban designer, participatory design facilitator, researcher and lecturer before moving to Tallinn in 2018 to pursue an MA in Art at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Her artwork has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, London, Mexico and Portugal. Some relevant exhibitions include her solo exhibition ‘Sometimes we Remember’ at Vent Space Gallery in Estonia 2018, representing EKA Gallery at Art Vilnius 19 International Contemporary Art Fair in Lithuania, the Young Sculpture Award Exhibition in Estonia 2021 and being part of the BAD IDEAS COLLECTIVE VOL 1&2, screened at Lethaby Gallery, Central Saint Martins in London 2021. Concerned with the way in which art is produced and shared among a community, she seeks to explore art pieces and events created collaboratively or in the context of artist-run projects. She was part of the Vent Space Team from 2019-2020, co-curating VentFest, an artist-run participatory experience. She is also co-creator of the Open Artist Residence, a three day event held in Tallinn exploring the principle of Premeditated Spontaneity in artistic collaborative practices under the moto “It is what it is and we do what we do”. She is currently doing an artist residency at Largo Residencias in Lisbon, Portugal.
