Aliisa Ahtiainen Emerging artist
Artist is based in: Estonia
Aliisa Ahtiainen is a Finnish visual artist based in Tallinn, Estonia. She holds a BA in Graphic Art from the Estonian Academy of Arts, a BA in Finnish Literature from the University of Helsinki, and an MA in Fashion Studies from Stockholm University. In autumn 2026, she will begin an MFA in Fine Art Media at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, in London. Her practice spans printmaking, installation, writing, artist’s books, and publications. Shaped by her earlier studies in literature and fashion, she is drawn to both words and tactile materials. In her work, repetition, colour, and paper create objects that both enclose and expose. She returns to paper for its fragile yet rigid nature, and to printmaking for its tension between craft and mass production. Her work has been presented in group exhibitions in Estonia, most recently in TASE ’26, the graduation show of the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2025, she took part in the Wiiralti Preemia 2025 exhibition at ARS Projektiruum and in Nähtamatud kivid at Telliskivi Roheline Saal.
